Flagship Connect (also known as “The Dashboard”) provides students the opportunity to connect with a larger network of language learners, share ideas with a knowledgeable community, and track their progress towards target language proficiency. The application provides both collaborative and individual resources. Flagship students can connect at https://flagshipconnect.org/

Let Other Flagship Students Know More About You

After logging in for the first time, you will be directed to your profile page. Some fields are required while others are useful for helping students who share common interests or language study find each other.

Explore the Network of Flagship Students Already On Board

In the Social Network tool, you can search by language, Flagship program, or any other field in user profiles. Clicking on a fellow student’s name will display more of their public profile information. You can also choose to follow or unfollow. You can also use the language filter at the top right of the app screen. Happy connecting!
Try it: Search on your language of study.

Jump Into a Conversation or Begin a New One

The Forum contains a list of posted topics from Flagship students. Posts can be filtered by newest, popular (most “likes”), posts you’ve started, and posts that you have liked. Click on a post to read the initial message. You can choose to comment on the post with a reply or simply “like” it. Previous replies to a post are listed in chronological order below original.

Try it: Create a post to introduce yourself!

Explore or Share Resources With Other Flagship Students

The collections tool allows students to share topic-focused groups of resources and information with other Flagship students. Each group is called a Board and each resource related to the Board topic is a Pin that is added to the Board.

Try it: Check out the Board created by Yves Wienecke on Russian music!

View Personal Analytics on Your Usage of Tools and Activity

The Analytics page displays information gathered about your activity and your usage of installed or connected tools.

Glossary (Beta)

The Glossary tool lets you add words and translations to a system wide glossary. Be sure to tag with the appropriate language. You can also search the Glossary for items added by others.

Portfolio (Beta)

The Portfolio lets you showcase your skills with artifacts of your work or sample of your language usage.

The Culture App

The Culture App is a series of online modules based on intercultural scenarios for U.S. undergraduate students of Arabic, Chinese, Portuguese or Russian. The Culture App modules were designed for use in domestic Language Flagship programs prior to Flagship students’ capstone year overseas.

STAR: Steps to Advanced Reading In Russian

The STAR web application is designed to prepare students to read better in order to reach the ILR-2 level in Reading and qualify for the Overseas Flagship program. The application employs a microlearning strategy, where students who engage in regular curated reading and vocabulary learning should become more proficient readers. In the app, students read short passages in Russian then answer comprehension questions about the reading.

Connect with a Partner While Practicing Your Language

Snippets is the first dedicated tool for practicing written language installed in the Flagship Connect app. A Snippets Challenge allows two users to exchange turn by turn written responses that are stimulated by a prompt. To get started, create a Snippets Challenge (or choose one from the Challenge Marketplace). Once you have selected a challenge, send the Challenge to another user. They will get a notification that you have a Snippets challenge you’d like them to participate in.

Facade Language Adventures (Beta)

Facade is a game originally imagined at the 2021 Hackathon. It’s designed to provide a series of interactions to give you the chance to practice your language skills … without zeroing out the Confidence Meter! Give it a try!

Reach Out Through the Messaging App

In-app messenger allows students to message each other in the app. Messages are persistent. Notification badges indicate when you have unread messages sent to you.
