Anke is a grateful student of the Dakota language, living in Bde Ota Othuŋwe (Minneapolis, MN). They are a graduate of the University of Minnesota’s Certificate in Teaching Dakota Language. Anke has a PhD in Language Sciences from INALCO in Paris, an MA in Language Documentation and Description from SOAS in London, and a Masters in Education (MAE) in Teaching from Alliant University in San Francisco.

They have learned 8 languages to varying degrees and have over 15 years of experience in various types of education, working with a wide variety of learners. Through Multilingual Futures, they do a variety of projects that focus on decolonial and evidence-based methods of language revitalization, including project-based language learning and communicative language teaching, with a trauma-informed and social justice-aware lens.

Anke has developed and managed several university programs for language teachers and has developed several original language curricula. They partner with language communities to ensure the survival and vitality of their language through innovative and wildly effective methods of language teaching, and they’re honored to support the revitalization of the languages of Turtle Island, among others.
